A-Life Plan
Take these 5 steps to a happier, healthier animal partner with our Fitness in Motion® A-LIFE Plan. This is the height of a body purification detoxification rejuvenation program designed for animals by our founder, Dr. Ava Frick. A-LIFE is an acronym for our 5 steps:
- A = Align the body. This is accomplished with chiropractic adjustments and supporting the autonomic nervous system.
- L = Let go of excess pounds. Obesity is a health concern of now 40% of the cat and dog population. With obesity come many diseases. One way to prevent potential illness is to keep the body fat content in check. There are many aspects to making this easier than what you have previously experienced. We want this to be successful and we vow to work with you and your animal to make it happen. We can offer not only meal and dietary suggestions but also a safe effective exercise program at home as well as using the underwater treadmill at Animal Fitness Center.
- I = Identify and Eliminate. There are many potential sources of illness in the environment that are accumulated in the body tissue over its lifetime. That means younger animals would expectedly have less toxins in their body than older ones. Starting this early in life can certainly prevent the onset of body degeneration that is caused secondary to chronic wear and tear and stress from environmental toxins. The ways we can do this is with Bio-Frequency Diagnostics, Fur Analysis, blood tests, and using a sauna.
- F = Feed and Nourish. As toxins are drained from stored sites in the tissue proper vitamins and minerals need to be in the body so the cells can move them into position. Once this happens true healing can begin. Food recommendations, specific Standard Process® whole food supplements, and herbs will be tested for compatibility. Water is very important in body vitality too.
- E = Energize and Exercise. We all need to de-stress our lives. This stress is picked up by our animal friends and impacts their life and health too. De-stressing includes eliminating pain and anxiety and helping the autonomic nervous system to adapt to what life deals out. Where there is less stress, there is more energy for the fun things in life! Your animal friend may not need to exercise to reduce weight but exercise alone is good for the soul. Pain and anxiety can be further reduced by implementing therapy from a prescription medical device called Alpha-Stim®. You are trained on how to apply simple at home treatments. Herbs are often helpful here too. Increasing energy levels improves overall body vitality.
You and your animal will be taken through the evaluation, assessments, and diagnostics. A customized A-LIFE Plan program will be designed that fits the wants and needs for you and your animal companion. This includes:
- A notebook for you to take home outlining all that was discovered
- Photo page
- Weight goal
- Description of your specific 5-Steps
- A – Alignment
- L – Letting go
- I – Identify and Eliminate
- F – Feed and Nourish
- E – Energize and Exercise
- Diary page for you to keep a journal
- Contact information and next visit date
We understand that times may be tough. History dictates that when it gets tough, people do focus on healthy living for themselves and their animals. There is much we can do without but our health and the health of our animal companions and friends is not one of them.
Diagnostic Aids
GAIT ANALYSIS, GONIOMETER (for Range of Motion), BODY MEASUREMENTS, COLOR & CHARACTER OF THE TONGUE, PULSE – These are some of the unique tools and measuring devices (which you would not likely find in many traditional type veterinary practices) we use to assess the health and progress of your animal’s recuperation.
FUR ANALYSIS – Taking a sample of fur can yield more answers about your animal’s condition than many blood tests, especially when we are concerned about toxicities and mineral imbalances.
INFRARED THERMOGRAPHY (IRT) – is a noninvasive physiological test using a specified infrared camera for imaging and computer soft ware for picture interpretation. IRT measures surface body temperatures and reveals areas of inflammation (hot) and nerve dysfunction (cold). Bob Winship,
Thermographer and owner of Midwest Infrared Services LLC, provides this service for us by appointment.
LABORATORY PROFILES – Vaccine titers, pituitary and thyroid assessment, general total body functions, infectious diseases, intestinal function and microflora are some of the many tests we
offer our patients.
UNI-CAM BIOFEEDBACK ANALYSIS – A quadruped biofeedback system that measures weight distribution through four paws allows us to better diagnose the affected limb and monitor improvements through the printed report.
VETSURVEY – This is a questionnaire that only you, the owner, can adequately answer because nobody knows your animal like you do. It is based on the body systems and the symptoms which give us clues to his overall health. The answers are tabulated by a computerized program that indicates which of the Standard Process® or MediHerb nutritional vitamins, minerals, and supplements could best benefit your dog or cat.
Therapeutic Devices
ALPHA-STIM® MICROCURRENT THERAPY – is safe and highly effective for anxiety, depression, pain, and tissue healing. With over 25 years of scientific research in animals and humans this is safer and more cost effective than drugs. Nerve cells and tissue is positively affected to produce the greatest possible healing response. This is one of the devices that we oft en lease for at-home therapy or you may chose to purchase.
INFRARED (IFR) SAUNA – This sauna can deliver a specific wavelength of light from the sun that is the safest and most beneficial. Its effect is to stimulate blood circulation, increase metabolism and promote tissue regeneration. FIR penetrates 4-5 centimeters into the dermis, can eliminate waste & toxic products, increases ability of lungs to absorb oxygen, reduces over-stimulation of sensory nerves and balances autonomic nerve function. Treatments last 10 – 20 minutes for animals and 20-60 minutes for people. FIR sauna therapy helps with joint pain, muscle stretching, immune function, fatigue, skin conditions, and toxicity.
INFRATONIC CHI-GONG (QGM) THERAPY – Chronic pain can interfere with all aspects of your pet’s daily life. QGM is a gentle penetrating massage action that loosens and relaxes muscles, enhances local circulation, increases energy level and well being. Where years ago Chinese therapist were trained on the skills of administering a specific erratic beat by their hands we now have a device to deliver their technique. Older patients particularly enjoy the residual effects of this 10 minute massage.
LAND TREADMILL – For those who don’t need the support, resistance, or buoyancy of the water but are still wanting to build muscle tone and function.
LASER THERAPY – Laser is light wavelength energy that can benefit cases of chronic otitis, wounds, burns, ulcers, arthritis, neuralgia caused by active trigger points, nerve & spinal cord injuries, sprains, strains, and circulatory improvement in general. It effectively prevents repetitive strain injuries and infections, reduces swelling, tissue trauma, fractures, aids in analgesia and can accelerate callus formation of bone fractures.
PULSED SIGNAL THERAPY – Biomagnetic pulsed signals are used to promote new bone and cartilage growth treating conditions such as arthritis and other chronic diseases of the joints, muscles, discs, tendons, and nerves. Nine 30-minute treatments are administered by the owner any time of day or night in our exercise room.
ULTRASOUND THERAPY – Ultrasound waves introduced through a “sound head” can penetrate tissue, heating while it promotes healing by stimulating enzymatic activity, increased cellular metabolism, improved circulation, and increasing strength and pliability of tendons. The fur must be shaved to deliver this treatment every other day for a varying length of time pending the condition being treated. US is used for muscle spasm & injury, adhesions, scar tissue, tendon & ligament
injuries, bone spurs, osteoarthritis and joint contractures.
UNDERWATER TREADMILL – Nothing compares when it comes to helping regain strength, the use of an injured or paralyzed leg(s), or losing weight for the severely obese. The water offers a safe means of relearning how to ambulate while the treadmill helps to initiate gait movement. Temperature is a comfortable 87-92 degrees.
Training Tools
STEPS, CAVALETTI, WEAVE POLES, BALLS, WOBBLE BOARDS, SIT BOARDS, CUSTOMIZED EXERCISES – These are just some of the many ways we can help you to re-educate your dog or horse to obtain optimal gait and movement function.
First visit allow for 2 hours of our undivided attention. Price depends on the amount of testing and diagnostics required. Base fee $250. Additional pricing for fur analysis, blood tests, underwater treadmill exercising, lease for therapeutic devices, supplements, etc.
